Alentejo is almost unknown to those who like walking, both in
Portugal and in the world. It corresponds to a third of the
continent of Portugal, with 27,224 km2, but inhabited by only
around 512,000 people.
It
is a territory marked by rural landscape, where authenticity
and time are the most precious values ??and where, from
a geographical point of view, there are all types of landscapes.
To the north are the mountains of the Serra de São
Mamede, in the central and coastal area there are extensive
forests of cork oaks and holm oaks, to the south, next
to Spain, is the Alqueva reservoir, the largest artificial
lake in Europe.
On the coast there are long beaches and coastal cliffs
and in the southern interior, there are wide cereal grasslands
that meet in the extreme south the immense mountain ranges
that border the Algarve region.
You
can discover Alentejo in many ways.
