The Trails

The TransAlentejo Network created a global organizational footprint for the Tourist Product of Walking Tours - also known internationally as Walking - throughout the territory of Alentejo.

The walking trails created have a common communicational concept, are supported by informative guides with harmonized images, use high-quality maps on military charts and highlight points of interest of natural and cultural value.

This is the only infrastructured tourist product that covers the entire Alentejo region.

The communication is supported by the publication of four printed guides and three individual leaflets for the cross-border project containing the 50 TransAlentejo routes.

TransAlentejo Transborder Routes

Alentejo, in Portugal and Extremadura, in Spain, offer a set of hiking routes that constitute a privileged destination for hiking.

In each of the three locations along the border, there are a set of two hiking routes to follow on a one or two-day journey, with various accommodation and dining options in either region.

This was a pilot project to design a hiking destination with six alternatives, three in Alentejo and three in Extremadura (Spain), with a view to being extended to the entire border area between Alentejo and Spain (Extremadura and Andalucia
